In many situations a child’s issue is first addressed through a thorough assessment, and you may have received a suggestion by a school personnel or medical personnel that your child should be assessed for a specific condition. Maybe you suspect a specific issue may be a problem for your child, and want that assessed.
An Assessment can confirm a condition such as Autism Spectrum Disorder; ADHD; Attachment Issues; Oppositional Defiant Disorder or Anxiety or Depression. An assessment leads to a strong plan for treatment, which may also include referrals to other services such as medical, in school recommendations, or community services.
At K.I.D.S & Family Therapy we can assist by conducting an assessment, completing a written document and making appropriate referrals in accordance with your child’s needs.
The process of the assessment, will likely take a couple of meetings, some questionnaires completed by parents and in some cases teachers; a collection of history information; individual time observing and interacting with the child, and often some psychological testing.
